In the early 80s, Rakesh Khanna the youngest of the family, gifted with a flair for design, now set up a jewellery boutique at the Chanakya Cinema in Chanakyapuri as a tribute to the generations of family jewellers. He styled bespoke jewellery and attracted diplomats and the discerning south Delhi elite. Soon he was singled out to represent design at The Festival Of India at the Cooper Hewett museum in N.Y., U.S.A. His displays were inaugurated by the legendry Jackie Kennedy Onasis. He rubbed shoulders with His Excellency the Duke of Edinburough, The Maharani of Jaipur , Heads of State and Diplomats.
